Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 celebrates 10 years with a free update, Final Festival and Xenoverse 3 rewards

Ten years after launch, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is preparing another major celebration. On October 25, 2026, Bandai Namco revealed plans for a free anniversary update arriving October 27, followed by the Final Festival of Universes on October 30. The event will bring back hard-to-obtain items and allow participants to earn 25 times the usual amount of Star Coins. More importantly, selected achievements and rewards can unlock special items in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, scheduled for 2027, through a linked Bandai Namco ID.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 celebrates 10 years with a free update, Final Festival and Xenoverse 3 rewards

Ten years of protecting Dragon Ball's history deserve a celebration in Conton City. Bandai Namco is marking the anniversary of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 with a final edition of its Festival of Universes and a new connection to the upcoming sequel.

The official announcement, published October 25, establishes two separate dates. The free anniversary update is scheduled for October 27, while the Final Festival of Universes begins October 30.

Developer Dimps and publisher Bandai Namco are not presenting the event as another major story expansion comparable to the Future Saga chapters.

Instead, the celebration focuses on rewards, returning items and a system that recognizes certain achievements when players move to Xenoverse 3.

A free anniversary update arrives October 27

The first important date is Tuesday, October 27.

Bandai Namco plans to release a free anniversary update for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 across the game's supported platforms.

The announced additions include new login rewards and special costumes. Players returning after a long absence will therefore have new incentives to revisit their Time Patrollers.

The Time Gallery will receive additional content as well.

However, there is an important distinction: access to the new Gallery material requires purchasing the paid FUTURE SAGA Chapter 4 DLC.

The update itself is free, but not everything associated with it becomes automatically accessible without a separate purchase.

That clarification matters for a game that has accumulated numerous downloadable expansions since its original release.

The Final Festival of Universes begins October 30

Three days after the update, the Final Festival of Universes is scheduled to begin.

The celebration builds on the game's existing competitive and community event systems.

Festival participants can represent different universes, complete activities and earn event rewards.

For the anniversary edition, Bandai Namco is bringing back items that were previously difficult to obtain.

This creates another opportunity for players who missed rewards during earlier events.

New commemorative uniforms and medals are also planned.

The publisher has not specified the Festival's ending date in its anniversary announcement.

Players should consult the in-game schedule for activity dates and any reward deadlines once the event begins.

Players can earn 25 times more Star Coins

One of the most immediately useful incentives concerns Star Coins, a currency associated with Festival rewards.

Bandai Namco says participants will be able to earn 25 times the usual amount during the event.

That multiplier should make it easier to obtain rewards that previously required substantial participation.

However, the announcement does not mean every item will be distributed automatically.

Players will still need to participate in qualifying activities and meet the relevant conditions.

For collectors interested in finishing their costume or event item collections, this could be a useful opportunity.

The complete reward selection should be checked through the Festival interface when it becomes available.

Trunks, the Supreme Kai of Time and Fu return to the spotlight

Three familiar characters will play a special role during the Final Festival: Trunks, the Supreme Kai of Time and Fu.

Players will be able to raise their camaraderie levels with these characters to unlock special illustrations.

That selection reflects the identity of Xenoverse, where characters from different Dragon Ball eras regularly interact through time-travel stories.

Trunks and the Supreme Kai of Time are closely associated with protecting history, while Fu has played a significant role in the franchise's later story expansions.

However, the announcement does not establish three entirely new story campaigns featuring these characters.

The described rewards concern camaraderie progression and participation in the anniversary festivities.

Festival rewards will unlock special items in Xenoverse 3

The most unusual part of the announcement concerns the connection between the existing game and its successor.

Bandai Namco confirms that certain rewards earned in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 can unlock specific items in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3.

Players who obtain the Gold Final Festival Uniform and meet the appropriate requirements will be eligible for a Martial Arts Festival Outfit in its Rare Color Gold variation.

A Rainbow variant is also planned. It requires players to collect enough Glory Points during the Festival to earn the matching Rainbow uniform in Xenoverse 2.

The crossover rewards also include collectibles.

Certain Final Festival medals can unlock digital acrylic figures in Xenoverse 3.

Bandai Namco describes a selection of up to 21 figures, depending on which qualifying medals the player has obtained.

These rewards give the anniversary event a longer-term purpose. Activities completed in the ten-year-old game may provide cosmetic and collectible benefits in its upcoming successor.

How Bandai Namco ID linking works

The process uses a feature called Link Data, rather than a full save-file transfer.

Players first need a Bandai Namco ID account, which can be created for free.

They can then select Upload Link Data from the main menu of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2.

According to Bandai Namco's official instructions, the game displays a QR code that directs users to an account-linking page.

The player confirms the connection between their platform account and Bandai Namco ID before returning to the game to upload their data.

That upload records information about certain achievements and qualifying rewards.

Bandai Namco also confirms that the platforms used for Xenoverse 2 and Xenoverse 3 do not necessarily need to match.

Once the data has been uploaded to a linked Bandai Namco ID, it can be used for eligible rewards on a supported platform where the player owns Xenoverse 3.

However, the system has not been presented as a way to transfer every custom character, inventory item, level or progression detail.

Xenoverse 3 ownership is required to claim the rewards

Several conditions apply to these bonuses.

Bandai Namco specifies that players must use a full version of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 to upload qualifying Link Data.

They must also own a full version of Xenoverse 3 to obtain the corresponding items.

The rewards will not be available before the sequel launches in 2027.

The publisher also warns that some items may be distributed separately after release.

There is no announced deadline for uploading Link Data, and players can update that information when necessary.

However, each reward can be redeemed only once.

Participating in the Festival and linking an account therefore prepares access to future bonuses. It does not provide a free copy of Xenoverse 3 or immediate access to its content.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 remains planned for 2027

The anniversary program accompanies a transition for the franchise.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 has already been officially announced by Bandai Namco, with release planned for 2027.

No exact launch date is confirmed in the Final Festival announcements.

The commemorative rewards should not be confused with a complete list of the sequel's features.

Their purpose is more specific: to recognize players who have participated in selected Xenoverse 2 activities.

This creates a symbolic continuity between the games without establishing a complete transfer of saved progression.

A decade of Time Patrol adventures

Originally released in October 2016, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 has received support across multiple console generations and numerous downloadable expansions.

Its central concept differs from that of a conventional Dragon Ball fighting game.

Players create their own Time Patrollers, complete missions and intervene in events inspired by the franchise's established history.

The experience combines character creation, progression, online activities and battles involving familiar Dragon Ball heroes and villains.

The game's longevity has been supported by additional characters, quests and storylines.

FUTURE SAGA Chapter 4, released in July 2026, was presented as the conclusion of the major story DLC sequence.

The anniversary event consequently arrives at a significant moment. It celebrates a decade of support while preparing players for a new game.

What players should remember

As of October 26, 2026, neither the anniversary update nor the Final Festival has begun.

The update is scheduled for October 27, followed by the Festival on October 30.

Players can expect login bonuses, special costumes, returning rare items and increased Star Coin rewards.

Those planning to play Xenoverse 3 should pay particular attention to the Festival uniforms and medals.

Qualifying items can eventually unlock rewards in the sequel, provided players meet the requirements and upload Link Data through Bandai Namco ID.

Ten years after its debut, Xenoverse 2 is doing more than holding a nostalgic celebration. Bandai Namco is using its final major festival to build a tangible link between a decade of Time Patrol adventures and the next chapter.
