Satisfactory 1.2.4.0 targets the stutters caused by moving build holograms over busy factories

Factory complexity does not always wait until a machine is actually built. Satisfactory was doing enough work while players moved some holograms across existing structures to cause repeated performance spikes, and patch 1.2.4.0 changes that part of the placement process.

The optimization is specifically about clearance overlap checks

Coffee Stain Studios says it improved the way Satisfactory handles clearance overlap checks. Hovering a construction hologram over other buildables should no longer produce the constant stutters and framerate spikes described in the patch notes.

There are no performance charts attached to the update. Coffee Stain does not claim a particular FPS increase, nor does it provide before-and-after frametime measurements. This is a targeted change to a recurring construction workload.

That workload can become unusually visible in a game where players spend hours fitting new machines, belts and infrastructure into factories that already contain hundreds or thousands of pieces. The optimization concerns the checks performed while positioning the hologram.

Placement behavior gets several other fixes

Hologram snapping had unintentionally changed with 1.2. Patch 1.2.4.0 restores the Ctrl and Automatic Clearance Separation behavior to the way it worked in Update 1.1.

Locked Splitter and Merger holograms should also stop resetting their nudged position when moved across a Conveyor Lift. Straight Belt build mode received another fix for cases where a new belt would not build straight after the previous segment used a 90-degree bend.

Multiplayer occupies a large part of the patch notes

Players could sometimes lose movement after riding in a self-driving vehicle for a while. Previously placed Blueprints could disappear after reconnecting to a multiplayer session. Coffee Stain also says joining another player's hosted game should now complete more consistently instead of leaving the joining player stuck on a loading screen.

Dedicated Server owners should no longer repeatedly lose administrator access and have to authenticate again. Railroad Signals that occasionally refused to switch direction are another item on the fixed list.

The patch addresses several crashes as well. One of the most frequent PS5 crashes associated with UFGBlueprintFunctionLibrary is listed as fixed, alongside FInstanceSceneDataBuffers crashes including a multiplayer case.

One more batch of 1.2 leftovers

Coffee Stain describes 1.2.4.0 as a patch containing remaining issues from Update 1.2 that the studio wanted to address after its summer vacation period.

It shipped on August 11 across Steam and Epic, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. First Person Equipment Scale can also once again be set anywhere from 0.5 to 2.
